Need Advice!!

My kids are going to have to share a room when the baby comes, so I am reduing Cayden's room for him and Emma. Plus when we move for Chuck's post doc, we will for sure be in a 2 bedroom apartment, cause of how expensive the cities we are looking at are, so they will all 3 be sharing for the 2 years of his post doc. Lucky the baby will be 8-9 months by then and sleeping through the night. Anyway, I want to do a cute room for them that is cute for boys and girls. I am so lucky that Cayden has a bunk bed with a full on bottom and a twin on top, so all 3 will be able to fit in one bed. Anyway, I have had a couple of ideas and I want people's opinion. The first is to buy these quilts from pottery barn teen. One is pink and the other is blue but they are the same, and I love the polka dots, I would also get the polka dot sheets. Then I would have them have just white walls with random pink and blue polka dots painted around the room, this is good too cause in an apartment we couldn't paint but I could get vinyl polka dots to put around the room. I wouldn't do a lot, just a couple placed randomly.



My other idea is to do brown and pink and brown and blue. I found the cutest quilts at the quilt shop that are pale pink and pale blue with brown stitching accross them. The blue is more masculine stitching and the pink is a more girly stitch. tHen I would do brown sheets with white polka dots, and a brown throw at the bottom of their beds.

I really like the pottery barn ones cause they are bright and colorful and really kiddy. But I also love brown with pink and blue, it's more classy, but not as colorful. Anyway, Please give me your opinion, let me know what you think, and if you have any other ideas that would be good please let me know! Emma insists that she wants pink and Cayden wants blue, so that really limits my choices. Thanks guys.

OUR BIG NEWS!!!

The above picture that Cayden drew might offer a clue to what our big surprise is. We found out a couple of days before Thanksgiving that we are going to have a baby! YEY! I am finally pregnant. Cayden drew this picture of the baby in my big tummy, isn't it so cute. I am 15 weeks and we find out on Feb 24th what we are having. My due date is July 28th. My kids are thrilled and it was such a sweet experiance for them. They had started praying for us to have a baby and I found out like 3 weeks after they started praying for it. I must have gotten pregnant like almost immediately after they started including it in their prayers. The faith of a child, how powerful! We are so excited and would be happy with a boy or a girl. Emma says she doesn't want it if it is a boy, and Cayden insists that we name it Cayden if it's a boy. Hopefully we will all be happy when we find out what it is. Thanks for all the prayers on our behalf, we are so thrilled.

Christmas Update. Finally!!!

I finally am finding time to do our Christmas update. We had the best Christmas, we really simplified this year and tried to focus on the spirit of giving. Instead of just what we wanted from Santa. The kids got 1 present from mom and dad, and 1 present from Santa, but my parents spoiled them so they really don't need any more than that. they made their presents for each other (really mom made them, with a little bit of help) and they made their presents for us. Cayden helped me make Emma a purse and Emma wanted to make Cayden a superman cape. The kids made a super dad Cape for Daddy and beautiful bead neclaces for Mommy. We had such a great time and I was so happy that my kids were so excited about what they were doing for everyone else and didn't seem to be too concerend about what they were getting.

Cayden opening his robotic robot. It was a $65 robot and I found it on Amazon for $15 on a 10 minute sale. YEY!

Emma's cradle. I found this old cradle in my mom's basement and she let me have it. I repainted it and sewed bedding for it that matches Emma's bedding in her room. I also sewed some doll clothes from remnant material, and found a $60 doll on Amazon for $10. The whole present cost like $20, and it was the best thing she could have gotten, she was so thrilled with it.

The day after Christmas we went to California to visit Chuck's parents. I had a feeling we shouldn't go and Chuck would not listen to me. Half way there Cayden got really sick and was having terrible pain in his abdomen. He was sick the whole trip and we spent 1 of the 3 days in the urgent care because the pain in his stomach got so bad. It was fun to see Chuck's parents but it was a really hard trip for Cayden.

Grandma made art smocks for the kids for Chrismas and gave them a bunch of art supplies. The kids loved it.


While we were in California we went to see Amy and the girls, the kids had a blast together.

Good News

I just wanted to let everyone know that we got some good news yesterday. Cayden has Acute Mono (meaning a lot worse than most kids get it). YEY!!! I knew I was right. The Doctor called and asked me when I got my medical degree. He told me that he had been sure it was Leukemia and he was so glad that I was right and he was wrong. We are so grateful that Cayden is OK. It has been a hard couple of months watching him decline the way he has and knowing that Cancer was one of the possibilities. We are so grateful to finally know what is going on, and that he will be alright. I just want to say how grateful I am to my Heavenly Father, I really feel like I have learned so much about turning our trials and our sorrows over to the Lord. I understand on a much deeper level how healing the power of the atonement can be, and I am so grateful that I was granted the opportunity to learn these eternal truths. I really was carried through these past months. Thanks so much for the love and support of our family and friends, and all the prayer that were sent on Cayden's behalf. We love you all.

Need your prayers!!!

We could really use everyone's prayers today. A couple of months ago Cayden started getting really enlarged lymph nodes. Because of some other sypmtoms as well they thought that he might have Leukemia. We had all of his blood levels checked in October and everything besides him Lymphocite levels appeared to be fine, but they told me that if the lymph nodes did not go down by the first of the year to come back. Well, since October he has kept getting sicker and sicker. He wont eat very much, he is always exhausted and will sleep like 4-5 hours a day and then sleep all night. He keeps getting random fevers with no other symptoms, and seems to be getting sick all the time. Plus the lymph nodes have tripled in size in the past month. Last time we were at the docters he noticed that Cayden's lymph nodes were getting bigger, and he also had a sinus infection, so they put him on Augmenten. The docter said that Augmenten was the strongest antibiotic they have and it should clear up whatever is going on in his lymph nodes. Anyway, long story short, he is not getting better, and the lymph nodes keep getting bigger. We went to the docter today and he thinks that maybe the first time they took blood, that everything wasn't developed enough to show up on his blood tests. He is really concerned that Cayden has either Leukemia or Lymphoma. I kept saying that I thought he had mono, but the docter didn't seem to agree because of the symptoms he is having and how much he has declined in the past couple months. I feel really calm, but the docter was a little too concerned for me not to worry a little. We got Cayden's blood test's today and we should hear back by tommorrow about what is going on. They are also going to biopsy his lymph nodes, so we will have that done in the next couple weeks. If the cancer tests come back negative then there are some other serious infections it could be. Anyway, I feel surprisingly calm, maybe because when we went through this in October I fell apart at first, and then was finally able to turn it over to the Lord. I know that Cayden is in the Lord's hands. And I know that our Heavenly Father loves us, and that no matter what happens, it is his will. So anyway, I feel a lot of peace, but would really appreciate everyone's prayers on Cayden's behalf. Thanks for all the support and love we have gotten so far. I will post an update as soon as we know what is going on. Hopefully it is just mono and he will just be tired for a little while longer.=)

The best time of year

I love Christmas time, it is my favorite time of year. I love Cristmas sunday, there is always such a great program that focus' on Christ's birth. When I was little we would always get a new dress for Christmas and I loved picking it out. It's fun for me now to get my kids Christmas outfits, and we all dress matching for one sunday. A busy month!!!

We have had a very busy month. So busy that I haven't had time to post. I have had so much going on lately, sometimes I feel like I literally don't sit down until like 11:00 at night. We had a great time during the Christmas season, and got to see lots of family. Here are a few of the things that we have been up to.

The kids got a visit from Santa's elves, the elves brought 12 days of Christmas to our house. They loved it.

We went sledding with Uncle Ron, who came and had family night with us and helped us put up the nativity and tell the Story of Christ's birth. The kids adore him and are always so happy when he comes over to play.

We went to the BYU Utah game with my parents. The spolight is shining on me and I am covering Chuck so he is all dark. We had such a great time, but were very sad that BYU lost. Do you notice the huge cut Chuck has on his head.


Cayden and Emma went on a date with dad and went rock climbing. They loved it, and mommy really enjoyed a night out with her friends.


We went to temple square to see the lights. The kids loved the nativity that has talking. At the end there is a spotlight shining up to heaven and Cayden thought it was really an angel up in heaven shining down on us. It was so cute.



We went to the festival of tree's with our friends the Bradley's. the kids loved the tree's and had a blast doing crafts at the kids corner. But their favorite was watching the dancer's perform. Cayden and Riley are so cute together, they tell their teacher at school that they are goint to get married in the temple someday.

Cayden had his school Christmas program. He did a great job, and remembered all the words' to the songs. Here he is with Ms. Michelle. I have been so impressed with his teacher and his school this year, he is really thriving.


We had my family Christmas party, it was so fun to see everyone. WE are really close with all my cousins and aunts and uncles, so it was so great to spend some time together. I only got pictures of Emma with people, and then forgot to take more of my family. OH WELL.



We decorated the tree. Cayden got to put the star on top. They loved doing it themselves this year and I resisted the urge to fix everything they had done. We also had hot cocoa and decorated our gingerbread house.
